The Turbosmart BoostGate is a butterfly-style valve for charge pipe boost control, with a body machined from billet aluminium to reduce mass and the control and flow of Turbosmart's StraightGate series. Unlike a traditional external wastegate, which bypasses exhaust gas around the turbine, charge air control bleeds compressed air from the cold side of the turbo system, modulating airflow directly from the charge pipe.

Charge air control suits applications such as drag racing, where turbo specifications are already optimised and the turbine is not the main limit. The zero-offset butterfly design provides fine resolution and high flow for precise boost control. Electronic versions use patent-pending Zero-Backdrive gearbox technology to reduce power consumption and improve response; pneumatic compressed-gas versions are also offered.
