The Radium Engineering FHST (Fuel Hanger Surge Tank) is designed to tackle fuel starvation issues head-on. If you've ever pushed your Nissan R32 Skyline or GT-R to its limits, you know how frustrating fuel slosh can be. This can lead to unstable pressure and a lean fuel mixture, which could potentially harm your engine. But worry not! The FHST is a fully functional fuel surge tank that fits right inside your OEM fuel tank, ensuring that your fuel supply stays steady no matter how aggressively you drive.

Installation is straightforward! There's no need for grinding, bending, or any modifications to your beloved vehicle. Plus, it works seamlessly with alternative fuels like E85.

How the Fuel Surge Tank Works

The surge tank system is designed to keep fuel securely around the pump (or pumps) that feed your engine. This innovative design ensures that fuel starvation is a thing of the past, providing a steady fuel supply under all driving conditions.

But how does it keep the surge tank full? The FST pump(s) receive fuel from three different sources: the high-flow (low-pressure) lift pump, the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) return, and two integrated one-way fill valves. Together, they keep the surge tank brimming with fuel at all times.

Collector Box and Lift Pump

A stainless steel collector box is included, which secures to the fuel tank floor. This is where the sensors and lift pump attach. The collector box features a clever one-way trap door that controls slosh and prevents lift pump starvation. The lift pump sends fuel into the bottom of the surge tank via an SAE quick connect fitting, making assembly a breeze. Once the surge tank is full, any excess fuel simply overflows back into the main tank.

Plumbing Made Easy

The pre-installed barb fittings allow for direct connections to your factory fuel hoses, eliminating the need for extra plumbing. Plus, 8AN (feed) and 6AN (return) adapter fittings are provided for those looking to connect aftermarket -AN style hoses. The fitting ports are machined low enough to clear the unibody sheet metal, ensuring a clean installation.

Fuel Pump Information

All kits come partially assembled, with the final assembly done by your technician during installation. You'll find enough parts to run 1, 2, or even 3 surge tank pumps along with 1 lift pump. Electrical Components

Bulkheads

The custom-designed stainless steel electrical studs can handle the high current demand that compact multi-pin bulkhead connectors struggle with. These connections are hermetically sealed, making them impervious to standard and exotic fuels. Non-conductive anodized aluminum acorn nuts are included to prevent any accidental short circuits. The top hat has enough studs to accommodate the lift pump and up to 3 surge pumps, including brushless options.

External Wiring

Since the fuel lift pump will now operate at low pressure (high flow) in its original location, your OEM external fuel pump wiring will be sufficient for the lift pump. High current fuel pump wiring is included for installing one FHST pump, which comes with a relay, a fuse, and all necessary wiring and hardware.

Note: If you plan to wire in additional FHST pumps, you'll need extra fuses and relays. Consider picking up the Radium 17-0031 DIY Wiring Kit for each additional pump.

Sensors

The factory fuel level sensor is integrated into the OEM sender, and a replacement fuel level sensor is provided. This new OEM Nissan sensor has the right resistance range to work perfectly with your gauge cluster. You can also reuse the original low fuel switch.

Chemical Compatibility

All in-tank wiring is insulated with chemically resistant ETFE, and the electrical hardware is included for the fuel pump(s) and sensors.
